Let's take a minute to reflect on Labor Day.

1. Listen to FDR's comments about labor day in one of his September 6, 1936
Fireside Chat (the Labor Day part starts 21 minutes into the chat).

2. What does Wikipedia have to say about Labor Day?

3. What is the message of the political cartoon?

Week of Sept 6th

This week we will be reading Flowers for Algernon and discussing the big question: "How far is to far when cheating in the game of life?" Through the study of this text and the comparision of it to the novel The Adoration of Jenna Fox students will identify key elements in a scientific work and apply that knowledge to their own science ficition piece of writing.

Homework will include: Article of the Week and Word Within the Word - due Friday.

Test: Word Within the Word on Friday - remember the extra credit.
